Channing Tatum Overcomes ADHD: Joaquin of 'The Book of Life' Reveals
"I have never considered myself a very smart person, for a lot of reasons," Channing Tatum, who was the voice behind Joaquin in "The Book of Life," admitted to New York Times Style Magazine. During his teen years, he suffered from dyslexia and ADHD, making his life difficult.
Channing Tatum attended classes together with kids diagnosed with autism as well as Down syndrome. He believed that if he failed to survive before, he would be having a miserable life now. Later on he was put into typical classes and admitted that he did not like those kids either. Hence, he felt like he was different and he felt like he did not fit in. From then, he accepted that he was different from others.
He humbly gave credits to arts because it is through arts he found his way out from the confusion and pains that he was experiencing before. His parents were not into arts, they were more practical. However, he was so lucky because he was surrounded by people (aside from his parents) who knew arts, fashions, and movies. In New York where he was a model he learned so many things from different people. He was taught everything he never knew.
According to Peolple Magazine, Channing Tatum also believes that "the system is broken." He said that if we will be able to modernize a multibillion-dollar corporation and make it efficient we can afford to help those kids that are struggling just like he did before.
Channing Tatum, 34, is one of the top earning actors as well as Hollywood producer of his time. He made millions when "Magic Mike" hit the theaters in 2012.
Foxcatcher Star believes that Channing Tatum has this incredible talent of selecting his mentors. In fact, Tatum said that by just simply looking at the person he can say that he can learn from that person. He fondly remembers his mother's advice to him: "Be like a sponge." Thus, he is always learning from people he met along the way and from the books he read. He absorbs all the knowledge like a sponge, and he's benefiting from this.
