'Saturday Night Live' Season 40 Latest News: Special Appearance of Jim Carrey and Chris Rock
This late night show is on its way on its 40th season. Created by Lorne Michaels and continued by Dick Ebersol, "Saturday Night Live" or simply known as "SNL" is shown on NBC for the past 39 seasons. This time, famous comedians are set to appear on the future episodes.
As Cinema Blend reported, special appearance of Jim Carrey and Chris Rock will surely await its avid viewers. They will make a rare arrival, which Carrey will be introduced first, hosting the episode on Oct 25. Even though it may seem that "The Mask" and "The Bruce Almighty" actor is a highly acclaimed and award-winning comedian since the 1980s, he only appeared on the show twice, in 1996 and 2011. He will surely impress the audience during the show aside from promoting the upcoming sequel of "Dumb and Dumber" which will kick off in cinemas next month.
Meanwhile, Rock's special participation on the show seems like a bigger deal than Carrey's. Rock also hosted one "SNL" episode in 1996, but has not appeared since then for 18 long years. He was a formal member of the show in the early 1990s so it was unusual that he had not appeared on "SNL" since then. It is safe to say that the reason behind that is his overflowing busy schedule in film and other projects. He is set to appear on the Nov. 1 episode.
Set to appear on "SNL" opposite Carey is the rapper behind the hit "Fancy", Iggy Azalea. She deserves this because popular rap artists usually get a spot to be on one of the episodes coinciding their success. On the other hand, Prince will appear at the same time as Rock to promote the release of "Art Official Age" and "Plectrumeletrum" in the show as he performs and shares his music to viewers. It is also unusual for Rock to show in a musically themed night.
Aside from prolific comedians, a lineup of musicians is set to appear on the future episodes to better stick around and stay tuned.
NBC's ' "Saturday Night Live" sketch comedy series shows at 11:30pm ET.
