‘Annabelle’: Plot, Reviews, Critics
One of the trending movies this 2014 is “Annabelle”. The movie was both the spin-off and prequel of “The Conjuring”.
This was a great kind of supernatural horror film that brought about $37 million dollard on its first week. It knocked off the large screens on Oct. 3.
“Annabelle” was directed by John R. Leonetti and produced by James Wan. The stars were Ward Horton (John Gordon), Alfre Woodard (Evelyn) andAnnabelle Wallis (Mia Gordon), who is currently filming a comedy titled "Grimsby" with Sacha Baron Cohen and Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive Penelope Cruz.
The story revolves around Annabelle, the haunted doll. The couple John and Mia were haunted by the doll. Here is a short summary from The Christian Post.
It started when the two young men and women were talking to Ed and Lorraine Warren about their experience with the doll. In 1967, John gave Mia a doll that she had been looking for during her pregnancy. One night, in their neighbor’s home, a murder happen. Mia told John about it and he started to investigate. As Mia called the police for help, she was attacked by male killer and a woman holding the doll. Fortunately, the police arrived together with John. They killed the man while the woman killed herself in the room.
After what had happened, they had find out that the woman was Annabelle Higgins. Followed that was a strange happenings which they believed that the doll was occupied by the spirit of Annabelle.
The only way to stop the haunting is for them to sacrifice a soul voluntarily. They manage to stop it in the cost of Evelyn’s life. She was the woman who manage a bookstore whom Mia met in the early part of the film.
A review from USA Today said that the movie has a “jump-in-your-seat moments."
Several jolts do not made a supernatural thriller. It tries to climb some of the blockbuster horror films so far. A lot of suprises appeared in the scene, but there were plots that leads to nowhere.
However, there were some people who disagrees with these saying that “Annabelle” has a good movie plot and thrilling scenes that builds up to the climax.
