Ghostbusters 3, Latest News, Updates, Spoilers, Release Date: "All-female 'Ghostbusters 3' a neat idea - Bill Murray"
Twenty five years ago when someone shouts "Who you gonna call?" one hundred percent somebody is going to shout back "Ghostbusters"! The movie is THAT popular. Seeing ghosts weren't scary. You look for one, zap it and stuff them in a 'containment unit'. Even with a gigantic Marshmallow Man, all you need is your 'proton pack' and you are ready to go. Just watch out for the marshmallow muck!
Well, the golden days are back with "Ghostbusters 3". After all the tweaking with an old script - writing, rewriting, editing - finally someone just said let's have an original story. So, kids of all ages, "Ghostbusters 3 will be an all-new production. New story, new director, new setting and new 'All-female' Ghostbusters! You got it right! "Ghostbusters 3" will be an all-girls team.
The new director is Peter Feig. According to Hollywood Reporter, he tweeted last October 8 and informed fans that he is going to do the movie; and he is 'gonna call' Katie Dippold to co-write the film with him. Feig directed the blockbuster hit movie 'Bridesmaids'. Ivan Reitman, the director of Ghostbusters 1 and 2, just decided to become the producer of the new film.
For the casts, names of female stars are still being tossed around. In an interview with David Letterman, original Ghostbuster Bill Murray mentioned some actresses he thinks would be perfect as female Ghostbusters. He said Melissa McCarthy, Linda Cardenilli, Kristen Wiig and Emma Stone would be good candidates. Meanwhile, The Guardian reports that X-file star Gillian Anderson excitedly announced that she is available and jokingly asked for a twitter campaign to 'make it happen'.
Subsequently, to boost the new film some more, cameo roles of original stars will happen. Viewers will see once again Dan Aykroyd as none other than Dr. Ray Stantz, Ernie Hudson as none other than Winston Zeddemore and Sigourney Weaver as none other than Dana Bennet. Actor Bill Murray, as of today, is still thinking about the offer of Sony. In a Variety interview, Murray finally admitted why a rebound of Ghostbusters did not interest him, the scripts did not 'feel right'. But still, Murray felt an all-female cast for "Ghostbusters 3" is a neat idea.
The first Ghostbusters movie earned a whopping 295 million in the box office, while Ghostbusters II got a 215 million earning. And after 25 years, Ghostbusters is back with a twist! Will an all-female team work? Will the earnings of "Ghostbuster 3" surpass the 1984 and 1989 hit movies? And, will the new story of Ghostbusters be good enough to make people shout once again "WHO YOU GONNA CALL?!!"
The answer will come sooner or later.
For now let's just hope that production of "Ghostbusters 3" this 2015 will push through.
