Taylor Swift Interview with David Letterman Shares on Relationship with Lena Dunham, Watch Here (VIDEO)
Taylor Swift's new album 1989 released on Monday and she has been on television everywhere doing promotion this week from "The Voice", "Ellen", "The View", "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and more. On Tuesday, she was in New York to make an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman".
She shared how herself and "Girls" star Lena Dunham became best friends. "I Googled her, and went to her Twitter, and the first thing I saw was her quoting my lyrics.
"It turned out she was following me, and it was completely un-ironic, and she actually liked my music," Taylor continued. "And she direct messaged me and said, 'We need to be best friends. I feel like you've been my best friend in my head for months and almost years now, so I need to see you in person and then I will lavish you with compliments in person."
Lena Dunham is dating FUN guitarist, Jack Antonoff, who helped Swift record some tracks for her album including "Out of the Woods".
Taylor also performed the opening track on the new album "Welcome to New York", which was obviously fitting being in the great city.
The 24-year-old, who was named New York City's Global Welcome Ambassador, also appeared on "The View" on Wednesday, and announced that 100 percent of the proceeds made from her ode to the Big Apple will be donated to New York City public schools.
Her new album is already on track for one million record sales in her first week according to Billboard. She makes the first artist to sell over a million copies in 2014 and also becomes the first artist ever to pass one million first week record sales for three straight albums. Her previous two albums Speak Now (2010) and Red (2012) also passed the million mark in the first week.
In an era of low record sales in the music business, Taylor shows that big things (and sales) are still possible if all of the stars align. If you buy Taylor's album 1989 at Target next week you'll get three bonus songs on the deluxe version, which is pretty great.
