Apple iOS 8.1 Download Problems for iPhone 5: Reboot & Restore Fix
Apple iOS 8.1 Download Problems for iPhone 5: Reboot & Restore Fix
The process looks straight and simple. Apple launches its biggest operating system for iPhones, iPads, and iPods. They advertise that this new iOS has the best features and should change your world the moment it's downloaded and installed on the iPhone 5, but things don't exactly go as planned.
Unfortunately, out of every ten people who have tried upgrading to Apple iOS 8.1, one has faced issues with download and installation. At times, everything freezes or there is an automatic reboot making the phone useless for a couple of hours. These problems are more prominent with iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, and 4S.
Time and Internet Speed
If iPhone 5 or 4S is still running on the predecessor iOS 7, there is every chance that the update will take way longer than expected. It will not be wise to download iOS 8.1 while you are travelling or need the phone in next coming hours. Apple suggests that you should plan ahead, take backup, and make sure that internet connection is fast and stable.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and download the update through iTunes for better results. Expect at least three to four hours for it to finish and do not cancel in between.
Restore Problems
In this world of notifications and text messages, it is difficult to stay away from the phone for long. Most iPhone users grow impatient and cancel the update making the phone reboot and los almost everything. If your phone is facing the same issues, navigate to Settings > General > Reset and erase everything to restore phone in the original condition. Make sure you restore the backup data from iTunes later if anything goes wrong.
Other Issues
Even if the installation is complete, petty connection and keyboard problems will haunt iPhone users over iOS 8.1. The best solution is to reset primary settings and keep all unused applications closed. Battery life will also be a critical issue, which can be controlled with third party apps. Also get rid of the cache and other junk files that might be taking a lot of RAM power.
