One World Trade Center Opens in New York City to First Tenants on Monday November 3
Monday, November 3rd marks a special day for the people of New York City. One World Trade Center will be open for business, 13 years after the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers.
Publishing giant Condé Nast is set be the building's first tenant moving in this week. The company's 3,400 employees will occupy floors 20 through 44. There is expected to be 175 employees moving in and more follow through February.
Conde' Nast told us it is proud to be a part of this important moment of renewal for the city.
The tower is not completely finished, some parts of One World Trade are still being completed but it is ready enough for some of the towers to begin being used.
The observation deck on the 102nd floor is scheduled to open next spring.
One World Trade Center (also 1 World Trade Center or 1 WTC; and nicknamed the Freedom Tower during initial basework) is the name of two buildings. It most commonly refers to the primary building of the new World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City, and the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.
The tower's steel structure topped out on August 30, 2012. On May 10, 2013, the final component of the skyscraper's spire was installed, making One World Trade Center the fourth-tallest skyscraper in the world at the time by pinnacle height. Its spire allows the building to reach a symbolic height of 1,776 feet (541 m) in reference to the year of the United States Declaration of Independence.
It has been the tallest structure in New York City since April 30, 2012, when it surpassed the height of the Empire State Building.
