'The Giver' Starring Taylor Swift, Meryl Streep and Katie Holmes, Watch Here (VIDEO)
The new movie The Giver has just released their first full trailer in preparation for the Summer 2014 release. The upcoming film stars Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Odeya Rush and Cameron Monaghan is based on Lois Lowry's beloved young adult novel of the same name, which was the winner the 1994 Newbury Medal and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. It is also the big screen acting debut of country/pop music superstar, Taylor Swift.
The haunting story of The Giver centers on Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community.
In a perfect world where there is no conflict, racism or sickness, every member of society has a specific role, and 16-year-old Jonas is selected to be the Receiver of Memories. As Jonas uncovers the truth behind his world's past, he discovers that many years earlier his forefathers gave up humanity in order to have a stable society.
The Giver is directed by Phil Noyce, written by Michael Mitnick and made by the studio The Weinstein Company. Filming began on October 7, 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa. Meryl Streep had some of her scenes shot in England, where she also filmed Rob Marshall's Into the Woods, before doing additional filming two months later in Cape Town. The Giver is set to release to theaters on August 15, 2014. Will you go to the movies to see it?
