Carrie Underwood, More Country Music Artists Offer Prayers for Las Vegas’ Mass Shooting Victims
The mass shooting at a country music festival held in Las Vegas has now been deemed the deadliest of such incident in recent American times. This prompted many well-known country music stars to reach out to the victims and their families, and share prayers with them.
At least 59 individuals were killed while more than 500 individuals suffered injuries, as reported by NBC. Suspected gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire and went wild on a shooting rampage on the final day of a three-day country music event- the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
Headlining artist for Sunday, Jason Aldean, had been performing outdoors at the Las Vegas Village and Festival Grounds when the shooting began from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
The country music singer has already taken to Instagram where he shared that he was distraught after the shooting rampage was unloaded on an audience comprised of at least 22,000 festival-goers during his set.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. #heartbroken #stopthehate,” Aldean posted on Instagram.
“Hurricane” singer Luke Combs had been performing at the outdoor festival on Sunday night as well. Following the incident, he shared a photo of himself singing and reached out to his followers, saying that the country music community is keeping the victims and their families in his prayers.
This is a photo from just a short few hours ago. I wanted to post a photo of what this festival was supposed to be about and not give this horrible person the recognition he so desperately wanted. I am incredibly saddened by tonight's events and while I'm thankful that me and all of my band and crew are alive and unharmed, I can't help but hurt for all the people who weren't as fortunate and the pain their loved ones must feel. Keep Vegas, these fans, and all of the country music community in your thoughts and prayers, we could sure use it tonight. Thank you. Another country music artist present at the Route 91 Festival was Tyler Reeve, who acknowledged God for his safety and shared his prayers for everyone. Longtime country music hitmaker Reba McEntire stated that the Las Vegas massacre strongly affected the members of the country music community even if they were present at the festival. "My heart goes out to all of our friends, @jasonaldean, our music family and fans in Las Vegas. I'm praying for your healing," she shared on Instagram. "I pray God puts his arms around you. This is so sad and devastating."
