The 2014 FIFA World Cup play continues Sunday with Mexico vs Netherlands fighting for a chance to advance out of the Round of 16. You can watch the Mexico vs. Netherlands game live online from ESPN at 12 pm ET from Brazil HERE.
The Netherlands squad wasn't expected to be such a force in this World Cup tournament but have been surprising people with their strong play. Under coach Louis van Gaal they brought one of the most inexperienced squads in the entire tournament, but have won all three of their games en route to winning Group B and a meeting with Group A's runners-up Mexico today.
The Mexico squad has also exceeded expectations for this World Cup under coach Miguel Herrera. However, they will have to bring a strong performance to hold their own with the Netherlands, who are a 2 point favorite.
The Netherlands should have centre-back Bruno Martins Indi active after he was out of their lineup against Chile with injury. This will have Daley Blind pushed back out onto the left flank, with Dirk Kuyt dropping to the bench. Robin van Persie will be back with the Oranje attack after suspension, with Jeremain Lens making way. The Netherlands bench will be missing Leroy Fer.
Mexico has named the same lineup in all three of their World Cup tournament games so far, but will have to swithc it up versus the Netherlands. Midfielder José Juan Vázquez is suspended for today, with Carlos Peña or Marco Fabián expected to replace him in the centre.
Projected lineups:
Netherlands (3-4-1-2): Jasper Cillessen; Bruno Martins Indi, Ron Vlaar, Stefan de Vrij; Daley Blind, Nigel de Jong, Jonathan de Guzmán, Daryl Janmaat; Wesley Sneijder; Arjen Robben, Robin van Persie.
Mexico (3-5-1-1): Guillermo Ochoa; Héctor Moreno, Rafael Márquez, Francisco 'Maza' Rodríguez; Miguel Layún, Andrés Guardado, Carlos Peña, Héctor Herrera, Paul Aguilar; Giovani dos Santos; Oribe Peralta.
