Hillsong Music Re-Inks Partnership with Capitol Music Group
Capitol Christian Music Group (CCMG) announced the renewal of their agreement for North America for Hillsong Music which includes the renowned Hillsong United, Hillsong Worship and Hillsong Young & Free. Since signing in 2010, Hillsong and Capitol have collectively spread songs containing the life-giving message of faith, hope and love impacting millions.
"Hillsong has been an amazing partner of Capitol Christian Music Group for a decade," says Peter York (Chairman, CEO of Capitol CMG). "I am extremely honored to have signed another long term record and publishing deal with them! They are passionate about their music and their mission and exemplify true partnership in every aspect of our relationship. We are pleased to represent their products to consumers for many years to come because of the high bar they maintain for creative content & compelling artistry. They are uncompromising in their efforts to positively impact the lives of people around the world."
"We are absolutely thrilled to continue working with such a groundbreaking church as Hillsong," says Hudson Plachy, co-president of Capitol CCMG. "The worldwide impact of their music is unmatched in the genre, and we are incredibly grateful to continue our long term partnership."
"It is our great pleasure to announce the continuation of our long-standing relationship with Capitol Christian Music Group in North America," says Hillsong Church's Global General Manager George Aghajanian. "We are excited about the passion that drives both organizations to see the worship that comes from the heart of our church, Hillsong Church, and the other songs we represent reach and touch so many lives worldwide. Working with the right partner that authentically represents who we are is of paramount importance to us, and we are thankful for the work Peter York, Hudson Plachy, Brad O'Donnell and the entire CCMG team consistently put in to help us service our songs to the Church and the community in North America."
The leading brand in the Christian music space, Hillsong has redefined the genre with their chart-topping albums, achieving a level of commercial success never before seen within the genre.
Hillsong Worship has seen tremendous success alongside Capitol in recent years, most notably with their chart-topping singles "What a Beautiful Name" and "Who You Say I Am," and their highly successful albums "There Is More" and "Let There Be Light." In 2018, Hillsong Worship secured their first-ever GRAMMY Award for "What a Beautiful Name," which additionally helped the anthem become the fastest growing song in modern church history. Their latest single "King of Kings" is quickly gaining momentum and tracking to become another staple in their vast catalog of songs sung by an estimated 50 million people worldwide each week.
Within the past decade, Hillsong UNITED has reached heights no other Christian contemporary band has with five consecutive no. 1 studio albums on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. Their latest album "PEOPLE" topped the Billboard 200 debuting at no. 2, securing one of the highest debuts ever from a Christian band on this chart. Recorded live in Sydney, Australia, "PEOPLE" showcased a wide range of new material including the breakout song "Good Grace" that set the record as UNITED's highest streaming street week career single, which "Whole Heart" subsequently broke by an increase of 12% upon its release. In support of their new music, the group returned to the United States for the first time in nearly three years this past spring for their highly anticipated 'People' Tour. The arena circuit consisted of 33 shows before culminating at New York's Madison Square Garden in July.
Hillsong Young & Free, the newest addition to the Hillsong music group, formed in 2013 with the underlying goal of targeting youth throughout the world with their revamped contemporary approach. With a total of three highly successful albums and over 20 singles released since their formation, Young & Free has played an integral role in helping the overarching Hillsong brand find commercial success. Since inception, the youth worship collective has acquired over 373 million YouTube channel views, garnered over 500 million global career streams with a 700,000 plus global unit career consumption, earned a combined social following of 3 million plus fans, and has seen five No. 1 career singles and eight Top 5 singles at Hot AC radio. Their debut album "We Are Young & Free" landed in the Top 25 on Billboard 200 while "Youth Revival" garnered the group its first-ever GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album (2017).
