Elevation Worship and Maverick City Reveal How Grandma was the Inspiration Behind "Talking to Jesus"

Elevation Worship and Maverick City have released their brand new single "Talking to Jesus." The song, which was written by Steven Furtick, Brandon Lake, and Chris Brown,is taken from their forthcoming album, Old Church Basement, which releases on April 30th.
Chris Brown recalls how the song came about: "That morning Brandon and I were hacking away at a really fast song idea on a $200 bass and a Gretsch guitar when pastor (Steven Furtick) walked in on a mission to share the lyric idea that had come to him in the car on the way over.
"Grandma used to pray out loud by her bed every night / to me it sounded like mumbling like she was out of her mind / she said boy this kind of praying is what saved my life / you oughta try it some time, and you know, she was right."
It's hard to explain how we fell into this 2 chord trance that lasted for several hours, or the way the storytelling unfolded while pastor was on the mic, but this song is what came out. Hope you love it and I hope something in it resonates with something in you."
Listen to "Talking to Jesus" here.
Grandma used to pray out loud
By her bed every night
To me it sounded like mumbling
Like she was out of her mind
She said boy this kind of praying is what saved my life
You oughta try it some time
Now I know she was right
She was talking to Jesus
She was talking to Jesus
She'd been talking to Jesus for all of her life
