Australian TV Network Drops Hillsong TV

Australian TV channel Network 10 has announced that they will no longer be broadcasting episodes of Hillsong TV. The news come after Hillsong Church founder and Global Global Pastor Brian Houston resigned from the mega-church. The show was screened weekly at 6:30am on Sunday mornings but this coming Sunday is replaced by a repeat of Farm to Fork.
A Network 10 spokesperson said, "Network 10 has confirmed that Hillsong TV will no longer be part of its schedule and has deleted all episodes from its streaming service 10 Play."
Pastor Brian stepped down as the leader of Hillsong Church because there were two complaints made against him over the last 10 years. The first issue was approximately a decade ago and involved inappropriate text messages from Pastor Brian to a member of staff, which subsequently resulted in the staff member resigning.
The second issue involved a complaint received in 2019. Following an in-depth investigation, it was found that Pastor Brian became disoriented after a session at the Hillsong Conference, following the consumption of anti-anxiety medication beyond the prescribed dose, mixed with alcohol. This resulted in him knocking on the door of a hotel room that was not his, entering this room and spending time with the female occupant.
TV Tonight understands it was Hillsong Church which requested the broadcast be withdrawn. But Hillsong TV will continue at Foxtel, which includes both Australian and US religious content.
A Foxtel spokesperson said, "We understand Mr Houston has left Hillsong and the Hillsong channel remains available on Foxtel."
