The Apple iPad Mini 2 vs. the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3: Specs Confirm That The Apple Tablet Surpasses the Samsung Gadget in Both Design, Speed, and Technology
When it comes to technology these days, Samsung and Apple are the top contenders constantly vying for dominance. The war between the latest tablets, the Galaxy Tab 3 and the iPad Mini 2, is no less vicious. While Apple continues to be more popular, Samsung is actually the world's largest smartphone producer. The comparison between the two tablets is necessary to see which manufacturer comes out on top.
The Apple iPad Mini 2, also known as the iPad Mini with Retina Display, has a 7.9 inch LED Multi-Touch display. It possesses IPS technology and has a 2048 x 1536 resolution. The Galaxy Tab 3, on the other hand, possesses an 8-inch screen with 1280 x 800 resolution, which is still quite a bit bigger than the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Google Nexus 7.
The iPad Mini 2 sports an A7 chip with 64-bits, as well as a 5 MP rear-facing camera and a 1.2 MP front-facing camera. The Galaxy Tab 3, however, also has a 5 MP rear-facing camera, with a 1.3 front-facing camera. It also has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with 1 GB of RAM. Where the iPad runs on iOS 7 (soon to be iOS 8 when it is released this fall), the Galaxy 3 runs on the Android 4.4.2 Jelly Bean system.
As far as price goes, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is the clear winner, priced at $169.99. The iPad Mini 2 starts at $399. Looking at the devices as a whole, the Apple product wins out in the speed and curb appeal departments, as long as customers are willing to pay more (keeping in mind that they will end up with more bang for their buck). Both tablets are currently available for purchase, as they have been on the market since the summer and fall of 2013.
