Disney owned Marvel released a schedule for releases dating up to May 2019, which includes a 'Thor 3' release prediction. This happened at the 2014 Comic-Con. Avengers: Age of Ultron is the first in line for release on May 1, 2015 followed by "Ant-Man" on July 17, 2015 and Captain America on May 6, 2014. Two dates have been skipped after it was announced that the sequel of "Guardians of the Galaxy" is set for July 8, 2017. Of the two dates skipped, one of them, May 5, 2017 is most likely to be the 'Thor 3" release date.

Marvel Studio President Kelvin Feige had something to say in a recent interview with i09. "I don't know, I think anything is possible...I think it will always depend...in some way, and this gets really nerdy, we look at the development of all our movies in these phases. We've talked about this before. We're in phase two right now, that's sort of the over-arching story lines. Some day people can look back at phase 1, phase 2 or phase 3, however long it lasts, and see a whole cinematic universe. But they can also look at the individual franchise and see arcs and turns. And in a strange way Thor, Avengers and Thor: The Dark World is a Loki trilogy, which I think is cool. In charting the relationship of these two brothers, when we first meet them as little boys listening to a story their father tells them and they were both meant to be kings, which ended up not being true for one of them, and seeing where that takes him in that troubled journey that Loki goes on"

It is reported that Marvel is pushing through with 'Thor 3' and as a matter of fact, it has already hired screenwriters. One of which, is Marvel's former vice President for production and development, Craig Kyle. With this, the fans are now assured that indeed, there is a story being prepared for the next 'Thor' film. They will just have to wait and see what the upcoming film's plot will unfold.
