'Hair' Live Performance with Kristen Bell, Sarah Hyland, Hunter Parrish and More from Hollywood Bowl, Watch Here (VIDEO)
On Friday night (August 1), Kristen Bell hit the stage at the Hollywood Bowl for a live performance of Hair in Los Angeles. The 34-year-old actress was joined by Sarah Hyland ("Modern Family"), Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz, Benjamin Walker and Hunter Parrish for the show.
Above, you can check out a video they posted to offer a sneak preview of the production under the direction of Adam Shankman and another video posted above shows clips of their performance.
Several of the cast took to social media after the show to thank to everyone who came out for the special evening.
"Thanks to everyone who came and thanks to all the peeps who waited backstage for us peeps #HAIRatthebowl two more shows," Amber tweeted.
"Night one down!!!! Thank you all so much for coming!!! Had the most amazing time. Now off the bed and only have two shows left! :(," Sarah tweeted.
Hair follows a "tribe" of politically active young hippies in the 1960s as they embrace the sexual revolution and fight against the Vietnam War draft. The book and lyrics were written by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music is by Galt MacDermot. Adam Shankman, who produced "Hairspray," "Step Up Revolution" and "Rock of Ages," is directing the new production.
Director Shankman still believes that Hair connects with modern audiences. "With everything that's going on today; with Russia, with the NSA; the show still feels relevant. And the music continues to be magnificent."
The cast admitted to more intense rehearsals than expected, but they've all been having a blast and are confident audiences will, too.
"Everybody really brought their A game," Kristen Bell told TheWrap. "I think everyone was equally nervous to digest a full two-hour production in ten days and then show it to eighteen thousand people, but it's been a nice place to work, everyone's playing around and having fun."
"['Hair'] is about celebrating people, having fun. If we keep that the focus, all the other stuff kind of goes away."" said Hunter Parrish, who plays the lead of Claude.
