A Week Away: The Series

Angel, the film & TV platform curated by more than one million members of the Angel Guild, announces a partnership with Monarch Media for the new original scripted musical series A Week Away: The Series.

"The Angel Guild enthusiastically approved the proof of concept torch for A Week Away," said Jared Geesey, Chief Distribution Officer at Angel. "Our audience is eager to support exceptional quality entertainment that the whole family can enjoy together. A Week Away checks all the boxes and we couldn't be more honored to work with these incredible musicians and storytellers."

Continuing the story begun in the 2021 hit Netflix coming-of-age musical film of the same name, A Week Away: The Series follows a group of kids as they embark on a summer at Camp Aweegaway-a Christian camp filled with adventure, friendships, and unexpected self-discovery. Based on the feature film by the same name, the series stars Antonio Cipriano (Phoenix), Cozi Noelle Zuehlsdorff (Dolphin Tale), David Koechner (Charmed)  Leigh-Allyn Baker (Charmed, Will & Grace), Sacha Carlson (911:Lone Star) and Carlos PenaVega (Big Time Rush).

Alan Powell, founding member of Christian rock group Anthem Lights and co-writer of the original film, is set as showrunner, with Powell, Kali Bailey and Zuehlsdorff set as writers. Powell, Vicky Patel and Steve Barnett will executive produce through Monarch Media, Kali Bailey and Elizabeth Yuja will co-executive produce. Hope Karowski, Paul Becker, Zuehlsdorff will produce and Adam Watts will co-produce.

The series is currently in production at  Nashville's Camp Widjiwagan, the location for the original film, working closely with the Tennessee Entertainment Commission.

Musician Adam Watts will produce the series' musical elements. His songwriting and productions are featured on more than 50 million albums in both the mainstream and contemporary Christian music industries. Watts has written and/or produced music for the "High School Musical" franchise, and Disney's "Hannah Montana." Watts also executive produced the original "A Week Away" film.

"We received such incredible feedback from families across the country who loved our 'A Week Away' film, that it seemed natural to want to revisit it in some way," said Powell. "We're so excited to bring this team together with an incredible cast of young actors and have Angel Studios on board to bring our hopeful and heartfelt series to even more viewers."
