“The King of Kings” Breaks Box Office Records with $66.9 Million Worldwide Gross

Angel Studios is proud to announce that its animated biblical epic, The King of Kings, has achieved a remarkable milestone, grossing $66.9 million globally since its release on April 11, 2025. This achievement marks the film as the highest-grossing faith-based animated film in history, surpassing the previous record held by 1998's The Prince of Egypt.
Directed by Seong-ho Jang and featuring an all-star voice cast including Oscar Isaac, Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Mark Hamill, and Pierce Brosnan, The King of Kings offers a fresh retelling of the life of Jesus through the imaginative lens of Charles Dickens narrating to his son. The film has resonated deeply with audiences, earning a rare A+ CinemaScore and a 98% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Brandon Purdie, Global Head of Theatrical Distribution at Angel Studios, stated, "This film is a testament to the power of storytelling that amplifies light and brings families together. The overwhelming response underscores the audience's desire for meaningful, faith-affirming content."
The King of Kings opened to an impressive $19.4 million domestically, setting a new record for the largest opening weekend for a faith-based animated film . Its sustained box office performance, including a strong second weekend gross of $17.5 million, reflects its broad appeal and the growing demand for inspirational storytelling.
In addition to its theatrical success, Angel Studios is excited to announce that The King of Kings will be available for Premium Electronic Sell-Through (PEST) and Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) starting May 27, 2025.
