American Idol Winner Jamal Roberts Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs Chart

Just days after clinching the title of American Idol Season 23 champion, Jamal Roberts has made a historic entrance onto Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart. His debut single, a soul-stirring rendition of Tom Odell's "Heal," has premiered at No. 1, marking Roberts as one of the few artists to debut atop the chart.
Roberts first captivated audiences with "Heal" during the show's "Iconic Idol Moments" week on April 28, delivering a performance that left judges and viewers deeply moved. He reprised the song during the May 18 finale, where his emotional delivery, dedicated to his late stepmother, resonated profoundly with the audience and judges alike.
Released on May 17 through 19 Recordings and BMG Rights Management, "Heal" quickly ascended the charts, reaching No. 1 on the iTunes U.S. Songs chart by May 19 . Roberts' version of the song features an original third verse, adding a personal touch to the already poignant track.
Mentored by former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, Roberts infused the song with gospel elements, transforming it into a heartfelt anthem that speaks to themes of loss, healing, and hope.
"Heal" is now available for streaming and download on all major platforms, including Apple Music and YouTube Music Apple Music - Web Player YouTube Music.
