Vatican to Host Exclusive Presentation of The Chosen Season 5, Episode 4: “The Same Coin”

In a historic moment for faith-based media, the Vatican will host an exclusive presentation of the fourth episode of Season 5 of The Chosen, the globally acclaimed series depicting the life of Jesus Christ and His apostles.
According to the Holy See Press Office, the event will begin with a press conference at 11:30 a.m. local time in the Marconi Hall, featuring members of the cast and production team. Attendees will include:
-
Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus
-
Dallas Jenkins, creator and director of The Chosen
-
Elizabeth Tabish, who plays Mary Magdalene
-
George Xanthis, who portrays St. John
-
Vanessa Benavente, who plays the Virgin Mary
The panel will offer insights into the making of Season 5, subtitled "The Last Supper", and share behind-the-scenes perspectives on why the series continues to resonate with audiences across five continents. According to the producers, over 30% of The Chosen's global viewership identifies as nonreligious, a testament to the show's universal storytelling and emotional impact.
In addition to discussing the new season, the team will reveal plans for two upcoming feature films centered on the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Filming for the crucifixion sequences is currently underway in Matera, Italy.
Later that day, at 5:00 p.m. local time, the Vatican Film Library will host the official premiere of Episode 4, titled "The Same Coin." The episode includes one of the most poignant moments in the series to date: a powerful women's last supper scene featuring the traditional Passover song "Dayenu."
As part of the Vatican visit, it has also been announced that Jonathan Roumie will present a special gift from The Chosen to Pope Leo XIV during the general audience on June 25. Roumie has previously met with Pope Francis on two occasions during his pontificate.
This unprecedented event marks a milestone in the growing intersection of faith, storytelling, and global media influence.
