Brandon Lake Defends Jelly Roll Collaboration, Honors Young Fan During Powerful Live Moment

Brandon Lake is speaking out in support of his recent collaboration with genre-crossing artist Jelly Roll, following the growing success of their single Praise the Lord, which recently cracked the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart and has been streamed millions of times across platforms.
Responding to questions about working with Jelly Roll, whose background includes addiction recovery and mainstream country stardom, Lake made his purpose clear: "How can we reach people in the dark if we don't go to them? We need to be the ones who step into hard places."
Lake emphasized the importance of building bridges and creating moments where listeners-no matter their background-can encounter grace. "It's amazing to have conversations with people who have been searching," he added. "That's who this is for."
During a recent performance, Lake paused the show to dedicate his emotionally charged anthem Hard Fought Hallelujah to Beckham, an 8-year-old boy who recently passed away after battling cancer. "He's gonna be here worshipping with us tonight from the other side," Lake said, visibly moved.
The moment captured the heart of Lake's mission: to bring worship into broken spaces and reach the hurting with songs of redemption and hope-whether through deeply personal tributes or unexpected collaborations that spark deeper conversations.
