Yancy's Heartfelt Response to Her Dove Award Nomination for “That’s My King”

Beloved children's worship leader and songwriter Yancy has been honored with a GMA Dove Award nomination for Children's Recorded Song of the Year for her powerful rendition of "That's My King." Known for her passion to "Make Jesus Loud," Yancy continues to inspire generations of kids and families through her dynamic music and ministry.
The nomination came as a joyful surprise to Yancy while she was wrapping up a worship set at a preteen camp in Texas-on the same day as her son's birthday. "I had totally forgotten the nominations were being released," Yancy shared. "After my worship set, I walked off stage to find congratulatory messages on my phone. Honestly, I burst into tears. It's been a hard season, and this song is so special to me because of one of its writers, @tayloragan, and the impact my music has had on his family."
Yancy's heart for ministry shines through as she reflects on the song's message. "This week I heard kids sing 'That's My King' with a holy roar. It's chilling. I am humbled to be a messenger and servant of the Most High God, grateful for how He chooses to use me and the ripple effect of the lives I get to impact. Every story and person matters. It never gets old leading children in worship."
The GMA Dove Awards, presented by the Gospel Music Association, celebrate excellence in Christian and Gospel music. Yancy expressed heartfelt gratitude to her friends and peers who voted: "Thank you, thank you, thank you to all my friends and peers who are GMA Dove Awards members. I'm blown away by your votes and kindness."
The 2025 GMA Dove Awards will take place later this year in Nashville, TN.
