Brentwood Police Launch Preliminary Investigation Into Michael Tait Following Abuse Allegations

The Brentwood Police Department has officially opened a preliminary investigation into Michael Tait, former lead singer of the acclaimed Christian bands DC Talk and Newsboys, amid serious allegations of sexual misconduct spanning several years.
Multiple survivors have come forward accusing Tait of abuse, with one prominent accuser, Shawn Davis, claiming he was drugged and assaulted in 2003. Davis is actively collaborating with authorities and legal counsel to build a comprehensive case against Tait, who is believed by some survivors to have harmed over 1,000 individuals. These courageous survivors are urging others affected to come forward and share their stories to ensure justice is served.
Michael Tait has publicly admitted to past misconduct involving unwanted sensual touching and substance abuse. However, many victims assert that his statements do not fully acknowledge the trauma they endured.
The allegations have sent shockwaves through the Christian music community, with former bandmates and industry figures expressing deep sadness and encouraging anyone with information to assist law enforcement.
The Brentwood Police Department continues to urge any additional victims or witnesses to step forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
