Michael Schumacher Condition Latest Update: Dieter Zetsche, Daimler Chairman says Mercedes still Backs Racer Even During Recovery
Last we heard, Michael Schumacher had been hospitalized due to a severe injury to his head when he was skiing with his family at a French resort at the Alps on December. The latest update on his condition is that he is apparently out of the danger zone and recovering well. The doctors initially had to put him in a medically induced coma in order to let his brain relieve the pressure for duration of about six months. The driver's agent, Sabine Kehm stated that the driver was taken out of the coma in June and he was transferred to a university hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland.
According to Corinna Schumacher who is his wife, she stated that they were preparing for a long and arduous period of recovery claiming that time could be his ally in the fight to get back to his form. It was said that he was not able to talk during the transfer but illustrated his coherence through nodding. There were also reports that the German manufacturer Mercedes; would change its relationship with the athlete due to the long recovery period. However, in a move of solidarity the car manufacturer stated that the relationship would stay the same and they would continue their sponsorship with him, probably as a move of loyalty. In fact, Daimler chairman, Dr. Dieter Zetsche said that they had not even thought of changing anything concerning, Schumacher's contract with the manufacturer.
The chairman was not able to visit Schumacher while he was in the hospital or at the rehab center after the transfer because he was respecting the family's request for privacy during these hard times. Schumacher had raced for Mercedes from the year 2010 to 2012 and got some 20m Million Euros during that time with them. The sad news is that medical experts consulting on the case have stated that the racer has indeed may a quick recovery considering his injuries, but he still may never fully go back to the way things were and will still rely on those who are around him.
