The new sci-fi thriller movie Automata starring Antonio Banderas from director Gabe Ibáñez has released their first trailer (which you can watch above).
Melanie Griffith shares to Banderas, "A machine altering itself is a very complex concept; self-preparing implies some idea of a conscious."
The Millennium Entertainment movie is set to release to theaters on October 10th. Automata also stars Dylan McDermott, Birgitte Hjort Sorensen, Melanie Griffith, Robert Forster and Tim Mclnnerny.
The film takes place in the year 2044 where robots are ubiquitous and operate under two fundamental laws that prevent them from harming humans or themselves. Banderas plays the role of Jacq Vaucan, an insurance agent of the ROC robotic corporation who discovers that the robots may be more human than people are led to believe. The robots reach out to Banderas' character, Jacq Vaucan, an insurance agent who is investigating their odd advancement.
Dylan McDermott plays the human who does not like the robot's taking more control. The movie has a look similar to Blade Runner that helps to reflect the dire nature of humanity.
Automata was written and directed by Gabe Ibáñez, with writing help from Igor Legarreta and Javier Sanchez Donate. The film was produced by Antonio Banderas, Danny Lerner, Les Weldon and Sandra Hermida.
Banderas has a busy 2014 with three more movies releasing this year including The Expendables 3, Knight of Cups and The 33. He has a story movie resume spanning over 30 years with a personal favorite being his role as Zorro in The Mask of Zorro in 1998.
