True Detective Season 2: Not as Dark as Season 1, New Setting and Characters
HBO programming president Michael Lombardo finally drops some more details about the upcoming season 2 of the Emmy-nominated and critically acclaimed crime drama series; starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two Louisiana State Police homicide detectives, as they hunt a serial killer in Louisiana in a span of 17 years.
Lombardo reveals that shooting will commence by September and will now be set in California, except Los Angeles. And since the series' has an anthology format, season 2 will feature different characters and new cast, this time three cops with one female.
Show runner Nic Pizzolatto will be back to write for the series, but directing will be done by multiple directors. Potential directors and casting has yet to be announced. And he says, it won't be as dark as season 1 but still dark.
Some rumored names for the cast include; Colin Farrell, Vince Vaugh, Taylor Kitsch and Elisabeth Moss. Season 2 might land on television next summer.
The first season finale saw Cohle and Hart finally finding the killer named Errol Childress; after looking through their 1995 photo files. Errol quickly escapes the place and Cohle pursued him in the woods and reached the innermost chamber of Carcosa. There he saw corpses in decay and he starts to hallucinate. He was then stabbed in the stomach by Errol, but before Errol could take him away; Hart arrives and shoots him. He wasn't wounded severely and was about to throw a hatchet into Hart's chest, when Cohle shot him in the head. The two managed to survive their injuries, as they talk about the universal battle between light and dark.
So what will be next season's storyline? Will it be as unpredictable and as amazing as season 1?
Meanwhile, "True Detective" is nominated for five Emmy Awards.
