Until Dawn Game News, Gameplay, and Updates: New Videogame will Force You to Make Decisions
Until Dawn was originally supposed to be released for the PlayStation 3 when it was announced back in 2012. It would have featured the PlayStation Move controller as a primary source of controlling the game as you try to unravel the mystery. At Gamescom last week, more information on the game's mechanics was revealed by the developers.
The game will be about 8 teenagers spending a night at a log cabin to commemorate the anniversary of their friend's death. They soon realize that a serial killer is on the prowl, and he will hunt you down one by one. Along with the serial killer, the game will also have some supernatural elements sprinkled throughout the game, through sighting s of ghosts and random noises and movements from objects.
The mechanics of the game depends heavily on how the player takes action. Developers of the game from Supermassive are claiming that the game has a thousand different endings which are made possible by the game's "Butterfly Effect" technology. This means that every action of the player throughout the game, however minute or grand, it will change how the game will adapt itself depending on your choice. This could also mean that not all 8 of the characters in the game may make it out alive, and the thing is, it's entirely up to you. You will be given a choice at some point in the game where you have to choose to save your friend, or run to save yourself, or if you don't want to decide for yourself, the game will decide for you. It also matters how long it takes you to perform an action.
This butterfly effect will surely have gamers puzzled over how to finish the game correctly, but the fun thing about is, is that there is no wrong way of playing the game. But each choice you make will have consequences.
The game will be exclusively available for the PlayStation 4 sometime in 2015.
