Though Blue Bloods season 5 start date is not too far away from today, there have been Blue Bloods season 5 spoilers loitering about the internet for a while now. The CBS hit crime series was renewed for a fifth season despite rumors and fears of fans going around that it will be cancelled due to not so high ratings from its last season. But given that the fifth season has been green lighted and is well on its way, fans can finally anticipate the continuation of last season's cliffhanging tension. Here are just a few things you can expect from the hit CBS drama series in the upcoming season:
Fans can expect that Blue Bloods season 5 will be having three new characters joining the roster. One of them is comedian and actor, Bill Irwin who will be playing the role of Cardinal Brennan, the Archbishop of the New York Diocese. Another fresh blood that will be entering the series is Holt McCallany. He had co-starred with Irwin in Lights Out and is a writer and producer alongside Liam Neeson in Run All Night. He will be playing the role of Robert McCoy whose purpose this season is still unknown except for the fact that he the interim District Attorney and the speed-dating match up of Erin. Finally, Blue Bloods season 5 will be having La Tanya Jackson as a squad commander whose identity has yet to be revealed.
