Downton Abbey Season 5 Release Date, News, Cast, and Updates: New Trailer Released
A new trailer for Downton Abbey's season 5 was released yesterday, and seems to foreshadow some new romances as well as what seems to look like fire inside Downton.
The trailer teases that Lady Mary Crawley has her sights on Lord Gillingham, while the Countess of Grantham has some connection with newcomer to the series Simon Bricker. Also, Tom Branson seems to have a new love interest. The Earl of Grantham looks to be in a rather enraged state of mind thinking that his grandson might be taken away from them for good.
Downton Abbey Season 5 will be set in 1924, the year of Britain's first Labor Party Government which would consequently be a dramatic social change for the Crawley family and their servants.
Downton Abbey premiered back in 2010; a period drama, and is set in a fictional Yorkshire country house Downton Abbey, which serves as the seat of the Earl and Countess of Grantham. The story details the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants during the reign of King George V. The first season opened with the news that the heir to the family died aboard the RMS Titanic in 1912.
Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Jim Carter, and Laura Cramichael are all returning for the 5th season, while guest stars include Anne Chancellor and Richard E. Grant.
The 5th season will premiere on ITV in the UK on September 21, 2014, while the US airdate is on January 5, 2015 on PBS.
