Nicole Kidman's Father Dies Suddenly from Tragic Fall in Singapore
Actress Nicole Kidman's father Antony Kidman has tragically died from a fall while overseas in Australia. Antony Kidman was an clincal psychologist in Australia but was in Singapore when the fall happened while visiting his other daughter, Antonia.
Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman's father, Antony Kidman, has reportedly died in Singapore after a fall.
Not many details are known of the accident yet but a Singapore police spokesman did tell Reuters that they were "investigating the unnatural death."
The elder Kidman was a clinical psychologist, biochemist and author, working in Sydney at the University of Technology's Health Psychology Unit. He was awarded an Order of Australia for his contributions to health services in 2005.
"It is with great sadness that we learn of Dr Tony Kidman's sudden passing. During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Tony has contributed greatly-as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner," vice-chancellor professor Attila Brungs told Reuters in a statement. "Tony will be missed by all at UTS. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."
Nicole Kidman has not made a statement yet regarding her father's death. She had a close relationship with her father and mother, Janelle, often bringing them to premieres and award shows when Keith couldn't make it.
Kidman's breakthrough film role was in the 1989 thriller Dead Calm. Following several films in the early 1990s, she came to worldwide recognition for her performances in Days of Thunder (1990), Far and Away (1992), and Batman Forever (1995). She followed these with other successful films in the late 1990s. Her performance in the musical Moulin Rouge! (2001) earned her second Golden Globe Award and first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Her performance as Virginia Woolf in the drama film The Hours (2002) received critical acclaim and earned Kidman the Academy Award for Best Actress and Silver Bear for Best Actress at Berlin film festival.
