Top Gun 2 Movie Update: Tom Cruise says, "We're Working on It", Script Writer for the Sequel Revealed

When asked about Top Gun 2, movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer explained, "The concept is, basically, are the pilots obsolete because of drones. Cruise is going to show them that they're not obsolete. They're here to stay".The original Top Gun was set in the Navy's elite fighter flying school. The new plot will center on the relevance of pilots in the modern age drones warfare.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Paramount and Skydance are already discussing with Justin Marks (writer of upcoming live-action Disney movie "Jungle Book") to write the sequel to the 1986 classic.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise may be getting closer to reprising his role as Maverick in the upcoming Top Gun 2. The actor told a reporter in Paris, "I would love to fly those jets, the newer ones. That would be so much fun. It would be insane" when asked about the sequel. He also told the MTV News, "I hope we can figure this out to go do it again", and "We're working on it". Lastly, "If we can find a story that we all want to do, we all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot Top Gun".

Producer Bruckheimer said, "It's just getting to the starting place. Fortunately for Tom, he's very busy, so you have to find a slot he can fit into and get a budget that Paramount feels they can make the picture.
