"Gotham" series premiere recap: 'Pilot': Gordon wants to put an end to the voilence in the city
A TV show full of villains, that's 'Gotham'! Imagine going "Blammm" with Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and "Kapowwww" with The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor). Well, you just might see it in the Batman's prequel 'Gotham'.
However, it ought to be mentioned that the 'Gotham' TV series is not just a story of the different super villains. Nor is there a Batman in the story. 'Gotham' is the story of a city gone wrong, a rotten city. 'Gotham' is full of violence and corruptible officials. It presents a gloomy city. How to stop the violence and corruption? That is the question.
The show basically starts with young Bruce Wayne, the alter ego of Batman. The young Wayne had to cope with the death of his rich parents Thomas and Martha who were brutally killed in a dark alley. Orphaned, Little Wayne gets comforted by James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), a young detective. Gordon wants to stop the violence in Gotham city. He might be the only honest cop in the city. 'Gotham' TV series is really Jim Gordon's narrative.
His partner, Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) on the other hand has other things in mind. Gordon and Bullock had to solve the high-profile double homicide of Bruce's parents. Approach wise it is the good cop and really bad cop routine.
The super villains of 'Gotham' city will surely make the TV series worth watching. With Fish Mooney doing criminal acts but still maintaining her flawless skin and bouncy hair! Penguin with his sadistic plots; and the puzzling puzzles of the Riddler. Let's not forget the purring for recognition of Catwoman; and the endless exasperating chaos done by Joker. Indisputably, setbacks will arise from all these villains. Who will stop all their schemes? Or is 'Gotham' doomed to kingdom come?
'Gotham' TV series will definitely be appreciated by the millions of fans of Batman. It has a strong cast and a lot of twists and turns in the plot. Like a comic book, 'Gotham' TV series might just be the next "page-turner".
