iPhone Latest News: Bendgate Problem Persists
The much-deserved praise that has been showered on the Apple guys is evidently on the brink of being taken back. Yes they gave us the super thin Apple iPhone 6 (6.9mm) and the iPhone 6+ (7.1mm), both significantly less than a centimetre in thickness. But no one on their team had foreseen that using aluminium as the material of choice at such low spreads could inevitably bring out its major feature-malleability against their favour.
Putting the iPhone 6+ in back pockets has caused alarm the world over as the new owners have discovered that their phones had morphed and lost shape. Proof of this urban phenomenon is viral and first appeared on tech review video blog 'unbox therapy' on YouTube.
For some reason (having a cited price reduction as one), Apple decided to use very thin slides of aluminium to cover the device and the precious insides of it. The same decision was made by Samsung on producing the galaxy note 4 - but they used a thicker slide (8.5mm) and as such escaped the bendgate, as it had been dubbed on almost all social media sites, other popular lines going around include '...your pants are too tight for your phone", which have spread the issue worldwide.
Apple reported having sold a record 10 million units of the new high-end devices collectively but are still to give lip as to how they will compensate the victims of the unfortunate bendgate. Apple hardware warranty covers some damage but not of this kind and has never tested the bend-ability of the devices they produce. Will they then call back devices or hold a press conference explaining to the millions why they should not have placed the phones in their tight pockets.
This is not the first time a phone has lost form in a user's pocket. Similar but less publicized events befell the blackberry Q10, HTC EVO, Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z1 and the last deployment from Apple, the iPhone 5s. We suggest using a hard case to protect your new iPhone from this predicament until a better solution is developed from Apple Inc.
