HOT Celebrity Gossip! Vanessa Williams Engaged to Beau Jim Skrip
Vanessa Williams announced that she was engaged to Jim Skrip after dating for almost two years. The announcement was made during the taping of an episode of The Queen Latifah Show airing on Tuesday.
Latifah said to Vanessa jokingly, "Vanessa, I have been trying to have a conversation with you ladies and gents, but I am blinded by the light coming from that bling ring on your finger."
Vanessa then answered, "Oh sorry darling, I got engaged." Williams said that she's been blessed - she just celebrated her 50th birthday and she got engaged a couple of weeks ago. The blessing got extended to her career. Williams is currently starring in a Broadway revival of "The Trip to Bountiful." It will open on Friday in Los Angeles together with Cicely Tyson and Blair Underwood.
The couple met in Egypt while Williams and her daughter were on vacation. Williams said, "You go across the world to find somebody who's six hours away." She made this comment in reference to the fact that both couple were from New York - Williams was from Millwood while Skrip was from Buffalo.
The romance between the two has been under wraps because they want to maintain their privacy and do not want to attract any unwanted attention from the media. Skrip works in the real estate industry and has also worked as an accountant "back in the day."
This is going to be the third marriage for Williams. Her first marriage was with Ramon Harvey from 1987 to 1997. Williams and Harvey had three children - Jillian Hervey, Devin Hervey and Melanie Hervey. Williams' second marriage was with Rick Fox, a basketball player and a famous Canadian personality. They were married from 1999-2004. The former couple has one child, Sasha Gabriella.
Williams and Skrip is yet to announce their wedding date. The former Miss America is known for her role as Wilhemina in "Ugly Betty." She also stars in the hit series "Desperate Housewives." All are wondering what's the wedding going to be like - a big one or a simple intimate one.
