Breaking News! Husband Threatens to Sue the Catholic Church After Bishop had an Affair with His Wife
The husband of a 43-year-old woman is threatening to sue the Catholic Church for cover up. He claims that the church and its leaders are aware of the affair between his wife and Kieran Conry, Catholic Bishop of Brighton.
The alleged affair is true. Kieran Conry resigned and confessed to being unfaithful to his calling as a priest. Conry said that he is finally relieved that his secret was out and that he no longer has to carry the burden of guilt all alone.
In an interview with the Mail, Conry said, "It has been difficult keeping the secret." He added,"In some respects I feel very calm. It is liberating. It is a relief. I have been very careful not to make sexual morality a priority [in his sermons]. I don't think it got in the way of my job, I don't think people would say I have been a bad bishop. But I can't defend myself. I did wrong. Full stop."
The former bishop has been seen several times with the 43-year-old woman, mother of two, in several public places. The woman is one of her parishioners. A letter was uncovered which states, "It's all right to say that your husband did bad things, but you knew that he didn't love you. You know that I did. And I did, and do." It was signed, Your K xxxxxx.
It has also been said that the woman and Conry had been very close for more than a year and had been exchanging text messages. They were seen visiting the British Museum and attending ballet show together. The two allegedly became acquainted with each other, after the woman together with her husband volunteered to be part of some of the activities in the church.
Conry denies any sexual relationship between him and the woman but he admitted that the woman stayed at his house in Pease, Pottage, West Sussex on some occasions. In a statement that was read to the congregation during mass, Conry said, "I am sorry to confess that, going back some years, I have been unfaithful to my promises as a Catholic priest."
"I would like to reassure you that my actions were not illegal and did not involve minors. As a result, however, I have decided to offer my resignation." Conry denies that the church leaders know of the affair.
However, the husband of the woman and his family believed that they do and will try to take the matters to the High Court.
