Super Smash Bros 4 Release Date: Wii U Characters Revealed

Good news for the fans of Super Smash Bros and Wii. Nintendo announced release date for Super Smash Bros 4! Super Smash Bros Wii U release date news. In this release, fans can already tell this will be one of the biggest game releases of the year. Nintendo surprised us at the end of their Direct announcement with a Super Smash Bros 4 trailer showcasing new playable Pokemon Charizard and Gen 6's very own Greninja!
The Super Smash Bros series has long been known to bring the best characters across Nintendo catalog of games to one title. This time around, however, that one title will make its way to 2 different platforms. Lucky for us, Nintendo decided to announce the Super Smash Bros Wii U release date as well as 3DS release date.
Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U / 3DS Release Date
Surprisingly SSB4 will launch during different time periods across Nintendo's home and handheld consoles. Super Smash Bros 4 for 3DS will be release during the summer of 2014 while the Wii U version will be released this winter.
But it wasn't just launch date information. What's a Super Smash Bros Wii U release date announcement without information on new characters? Like Charizard. Yes! he's back! While the fire breathing pocket monster isn't exactly a new contender, we've never been able to use him solo before. Now coupled with his mega form of Mega Charizard X, he's sure to be a formidable opponent.
Gen 6 fans rejoice! Those that chose the water starter back when they started their Pokemon X and Y journey will be excited to see the water ninja make his SSB4 debut. While he doesn't have a mega form like Charizard or Lucario, we're sure he'll hold his own.
Meanwhile, Suit-less Samus makes her return this time, as a stand alone character. In addressing some past drawbacks of Zero Suit Samus, Nintendo has given her rocket shoes power to attack and recover.
Little Mac, will have a one-hit KO move where, after he's meter fills, will be able to take out any character on the field -- provided his attack lands. Rosalina and Luna are able to attack simultaneously using different movesets, making her a formidable opponent.
List of previously announced new Super Smash Bros characters also include Villager, Little Mac, Mega Man, Rosalina and Luna and Wii Fit Trainers (male and female)
While multiplayer between Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS is still not supported, Nintendo showed us a glimpse of online play. The two modes: For Fun and For Glory will be the dividing line between friendly matches and more serious affairs when playing online. With new trophies, loads new characters and improvements to the Smash Bros formula. This is certainly looking like a must-have update to a well-loved game.
So are you excited about this? Let us know. Sound off below!
