Vikings Season 3 Plot and News: Lothbrok Raids Paris as the New King of Denmark
The successful Vikings series in the History Channel has been renewed for Season 3 comprising of 10 episodes. The next Vikings Season will lead in to the Viking Age as Earl Ragnar Lothbrok takes the throne and becomes the new ruler of Denmark, when he killed Denmark's King Horik last season.
Vikings Season 3 plot will dwell on Lothbrok's attack on Paris. According to BreatheCast, Lothbrok will sail off with his men and a fleet of 100 ships into battle. This battle is known as "The Great Raid".
Michael Hirst, the creator of the show, explained: "Yeah, we're gonna attack Paris. Paris was the most extraordinary city. It was still a Roman city, and it was like nothing else on earth. We're just building that, at the moment, on the backlot. It will also be CGI. Ragnar attacked Paris with one hundred ships."
CGI effects will be used with those scenes involving the invasion of Paris, according to Hirst during the San Diego Comic Con panel discussion.
Aside from The Great Raid, fans will be happy to know that the new King will get the chance to connect up with his brother Rollo and the changes he will encounter as the new King. "We go back to the raiding thing this year instead of all the dramas in Kattegat," Travis Fimmel, who played Lothbrok, said.
Kevin Durand, from the successful show, Lost, will join the cast this new season, and he will play a mysterious man known as the Wanderer.
Vikings Season 3 cast includes, Lothair Bluteau, Jennie Jacques, and Morgane Polanski.
Vikings Season 3 premiere date is scheduled on the summer of 2015.
