'Dallas Season 4' Canceled; Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy Support Fans' #SaveDallas Campaign
"Dallas," a 1978 television show reboot of the same name, was recently canceled by TNT, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Following the news of the cancellation, fans of the 2012 reboot of the show started a campaign to try and urge TNT to reverse the network's decision on cancelling the show, the New York Times has learned.
The fans begun an online petition to gather other fans and supporters to persuade TNT to bring back the show and start the fourth season of the reboot.
Stars of the show backed up the fans' campaign to save the television series as well. Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy urged fans to show their support. Aside from the online petition, twitter users are also campaigning with the hashtag #SaveDallas to help save the show.
The television show ran for three seasons, but TNT decided to cancel the said show. Dallas first aired its pilot back in June 2012 and it was received well by the audience. However, the recent season did not pick up ratings, and instead fell slowly. This is after one original Dallas cast member, Larry Hagman, died during the taping for the show's second season. Larry Hagman played J.R. Ewing in the original series and also reprised his role in the 2012 reboot of the show.
The network saw a decline in the ratings from seven million viewers which significantly fell down to just 1.7 million in the third season's finale which aired on Sept. 22.
Other stars of the reboot include Linda Gray, who is also a returning cast member, reprised her role as Sue Ellen Ewing. Patrick Duffy also returned to play as Bobby Ewing again in the 2012 reboot.
New cast members include Juan Pablo Di Pace, who plays the role of Nicolas Trevino. Another one is Brenda Strong who played the role of Ann Ewing, Strong is also known for playing as Mary Alice Young in the "Desperate Housewives" show also back in 2012.
Co-produced with Mike Robin, the show was run and produced by Cynthia Cidre. She is also known for classic movies such as "A Kiling in a Small Town" in 1990 and "In Country" featuring Bruce Willis.
