Former Members of As I Lay Dying Form a New Band with Album Coming Out on August 5

After As I Lay Dying lead singer Tim Lambesis was arrested for plotting to murder his wife on May 8, 2013, he admitted that he and various members of the band were atheist. Lambesis even confessed that the band remained to be marketed as a Christian band despite the fact that many of them were already ex-Christians. However, the arrest of Lambesis has not stopped other bandmembers Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso, Josh Gilbert and Jordan Mancino, to form a new band with Shane Blay of Oh, Sleeper known as the Wovenwar.
Wovenwar became a full-time project when Lambesis plead guilty on February 25, 2014 and faced a six-year prison term. From 2013 to 2014 the band had been in the process of making a debut self-titled album with the producer Bill Stevenson. The mixing was done by Colin Richardson. The album is set to be released on August 5, 2014 through Metal Blade Records (see album cover above) .
On April 21, 2014 the debut single "All Rise" saw the light of day. On June 18, 2014, the band released a second single called "The Mason."
In an interview published in The Weeklings, Nick Hipa has this to say about the Lambesis ordeal: "Tim, in spite of the things that he was found guilty for, and some of the things he was wrestling with personally, was a great frontman and he was the face of As I Lay Dying, so for us to try and continue on with that didn't feel right."
"Our natural response was to write music and start another band with a new name and just make it something completely separate from the past. When you invest yourselves in something for over ten years, you're building a career and you're developing a sound that everyone associates you with, but to move on in the same vein with a different person, I felt like would have forced that new project to always live in the shadow of the old."
When asked about the meaning of the name Wovenwar, Hipa responds: "The name is just something that we collectively settled on based on the idea that at our core, we're all the same. As human beings, there's a common thread that runs through us, and we have the spectrum of love and hate and everything in between; we're born exactly the same but as we age and go through life, certain parts of our character are cultivated, whether it's a belief system or whether it's a religious belief or a political belief, or prejudices or anything."
