Phil Robertson, Patriarch of "Duck Dynasty," Dies at 79

Phil Robertson, beloved patriarch of the Robertson family and star of the hit television series Duck Dynasty, passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 79 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease and related health complications.
A passionate outdoorsman, entrepreneur, and devout Christian, Phil Robertson rose to national prominence through the success of Duck Commander, a duck call business he founded, and through Duck Dynasty, which aired on A&E from 2012 to 2017. The show captured the hearts of millions, chronicling the lives, faith, and humor of the Robertson family, and became one of the most-watched reality television series in history.
In December 2024, the Robertson family publicly revealed Phil's Alzheimer's diagnosis, sharing his journey with strength, transparency, and hope. Despite facing additional health challenges-including a blood disorder and a fractured back-Phil remained steadfast in his faith and surrounded by the love of his family.
Phil was a bold and unwavering voice for Christian values and conservative beliefs, known for speaking candidly on matters of faith, family, and freedom. His legacy extends far beyond the screen, touching countless lives through his ministry, books, and public speaking engagements.
The Robertson family released the following statement:
"Phil lived a life of deep purpose-grounded in his love for Jesus, devotion to family, and commitment to truth. We take comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers from around the world."
A private memorial service will be held with close family and friends. Details for a public celebration of Phil's life will be shared in the coming days.
