Forever Season 1 Review, Release Date, Teasers, Updates, Spoilers and Reveals: Series features Paranormal Plot
The fall 2014 TV season bring with is a host of new shows including Forever. The show which has the coveted 9 PM slot on ABC on Thursdays premiered on the 23rd of September with the second episode airing the next day. Forever is a show about Dr. Henry Morgan one of New York's medical examiners who has somehow lived for two centuries. His story becomes intertwined with that of a detective Jo Martinez whom our 200 year old hero deduces has recently lost her husband when she sees him get on a train that crashes minutes later.
The first episode was beautifully written and directed with just the right mix of intrigue and very real looking corpses. Our detective is introduce as a one night stand kind of girl but in subsequent episodes becomes quite reserved in later episodes which is quite confusing. He lives with an elderly gentleman whom is later revealed as his adopted Jewish child who was rescued from the Nazi camps. The pilot was simply spectacular but subsequent episodes have failed to impress. The crimes remain quite intriguing but the flash backs are not as impressive or as well shot as the ones in the first episode. His skills of deduction are also not as Sherlocky as were previously shown to be. He has lived in America for 200 years and has not gained even the slightest accent. Even with the presence of a shadow-y villain who confesses has lived for 2000 years the show is coming to a painful halt.
Creator Matt Miller no doubt had great dreams for his baby but the ratings are speaking for themselves. The show premiered to an impressive 8.59 million viewers which was down to 6.85 the very next day by the time the third episode rolled around it was down to 5.69. The show seems to hemorrhaging viewers and by the time March rolls around we are almost certain ABC will not renew it for a second season. It would be advisable to watch it now while you still can.
